AMVETS in Action


Captain Charles Rock, commanding officer at Commander Fleet Activities Sasebo, Japan presents Cadet CPO Precious Cuaycong the American Veterans JROTC award at their annual awards banquet on May 28, 2014 in Sasebo, Japan.

One cadet from each detachment is recognized annually AMVETS Junior ROTC and ROTC medals and certificates are authorized by Army and Air Force regulations. While no regulations exist for Navy or Marine Corps ROTC units, AMVETS also recognizes these branches. The award consists of a medal pendant and ribbon bar.

A leader since 1944 in preserving the freedoms secured by America’s armed forces, AMVETS provides, not only support for veterans and the active military in procuring their earned entitlements, but also community services that enhance the quality of life for this nation’s citizens.
