AMVETS AND DEVRY UNIVERSITY
HELP FUND VETERANS’ AND THEIR FAMILIES’ FUTURES

WASHINGTON, April 14, 2009— AMVETS, one of the nation’s largest and most inclusive veterans service organization, announced the spring winners of its AMVETS – DeVry University Scholarship Program.

Selected to receive educational awards valued up to $9,000 each at DeVry University are veterans Michael Bullock of Texico, Ill.; Teri Odegaard of Kendrick, Idaho; Kenneth Rodriguez of Austin, Texas and Andrew Wing of Anthem, Ariz.; and children of veterans Matthew Ellington of Reynoldsburg, Ohio and Deborah Nasalroad of Hermitage, Mont.

The winners were selected on the basis of academic excellence and financial need. Since its inception in the 1950s, the AMVETS Scholarship Programs have awarded more than $2 million in scholarships to veterans and graduating high school students who are sons and daughters or grandchildren of American veterans.

“AMVETS is extremely grateful for the opportunity that DeVry University has afforded these deserving Americans,” said AMVETS National Commander John C. Hapner. “Through the generosity of DeVry University and other educational institutions, AMVETS has been able to expand our educational support of our Nation’s heroes and their families.”

National Director of Military Affairs for DeVry, Inc., Randy Plunkett said, “Partnering with AMVETS has served as a force multiplier in enabling DeVry University to maximize their outreach to this nation’s deserving military and their families.”
