Special Olympics

Home» Programs » Special Olympics

Special Olympics have been a catalyst to help the mentally challenged experience a degree of normalcy in their lives. It has encouraged families and communities to recognize the abilities of these individuals and taught us all to appreciate their courage and skill as competing Special Olympians. Participation in Special Olympics transforms the dream of participating in sports into reality and, for these Special Olympians, promotes a more positive self-image. AMVETS posts and departments are encouraged to volunteer and support their local Special Olympic chapters.

Check out their Web Site and locate contacts for your state; Special Olympics

Ninety-eight posts in (23) departments support Special Olympics

In 2010 alone (1113) volunteers provided (47,985) hours of service and a total of $90,478 in cash donations in support of various Special Olympics Programs.
