U.S.S. Arizona Memorial 2012 Golf Event and Banquet

AMVETS Hawaii – Admiral Macke and General Lee will Tee Off with our Returning Warriors and Wounded Marines at Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course on Friday, May 25, 2012.

“Our AMVETS USS Arizona Memorial Post is committed to the Legacy of our USS Arizona Memorial and our Nation’s Veterans,” said Commander of AMVETS Hawaii Donovan A. Lazarus.

It is with great pleasure that AMVETS have this opportunity to organize the official USS Arizona Memorial 2012 Golf Event & Banquet fundraiser event, along with our partners: Pacific Historic Parks, National Park Service the Lazarus Foundation, Inc and Armed Service Exchange.

This coming Memorial Day of 2012, marks the 50th Anniversary of the USS Arizona Memorial. Unfortunately, after nearly 50 years in salt water, the Memorial needs a lot of major repairs. In order to raise funds to preserve what remains of the sunken battleship USS Arizona, the final resting place for many of the 1,177 crewmen killed on December 7th, 1941.

Our goal is to raise $80,000 of the $1,000,000 needed for the restoration of the USS Arizona Memorial. This would also be a great opportunity to golf with our Returning Warriors, while honoring their service and sacrifice to the Nation. Proceeds from this event will go directly to the refurbishment of the USS Arizona Memorial. To register to participate in this tournament or for your company to become a major sponsor of this golf tournament, please visit www.ussarizonamemorial.us or email Commander Donovan A. Lazarus, at donovan@amvets-hawaii.org.

Guest Speakers includes: Governor Linda Lingle, Mayor Peter Carlisle, Representative Kimberly Pine and Councilwoman Tulsi Gabbard
