80th National Convention

Each year, AMVETS members convene to elect and appoint officers at the national, district, department, and post levels. Every August, representatives from these levels attend the AMVETS National Convention, where they make crucial decisions on issues impacting veterans and the organization.

The Silver Helmet Awards are presented at the annual Commanders & Presidents Banquet, recognizing excellence and outstanding accomplishment in the fields of Americanism, defense, rehabilitation, congressional and civil service.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is parking? The Rosen Centre is providing a 50% discount on self-parking. Accessible and van accessible on-site parking is available, as is valet parking.

What am I supposed to wear? "Business casual" is acceptable for all delegates, alternates, and guests. At no time will shorts, T-Shirts, tank tops, flipflops or ball caps be allowed on the convention floor. On Friday of the convention, delegates may wear a red T-Shirt in support of “Remember Everyone Deployed”. T-shirts must be neat in appearance with no holes. Lack of an AMVETS cover is not a reason to be barred from the convention floor. Final decision on acceptable dress will be made by the National Commander. Reasonable accommodations will be made for delegates with disabilities. The Friday night banquet is a formal, ticketed dinner event. Acceptable attire is business or formal.

What is the hotel's pet policy? Service animals welcome for individuals with disabilities. For non-service animals the hotel is pet-friendly, but strictly limits accommodations to dogs. A maximum of one dog is permitted per guestroom, and there are no size limits. Cats and exotic pets are not allowed.

What are the dining options in the hotel? Explore Floridian favorites at Everglades Restaurant, Caribbean-Cuban flavors at Harry’s Poolside Bar & Grill, a colorful buffet at Café Gauguin and fusion food with an impressive selection of premium tequilas at 98Forty Tapas & Tequila. The culinary adventure continues with fresh sushi at Banshoo and late night noshes and drinks at Sam & Bubbe’s. In the morning, jump-start your day with freshly brewed coffee from Smoooth Java. Between meals, pick up snacks and small bites any time of day at Red’s Deli.
